Bullroarer with Hand-Painted Dot Artwork by Murra Wolka (Teal)
$49.00
This handcrafted timber bullroarer by Murra Wolka features an Aboriginal Bush Tucker design hand-painted on a teal background. Each bullroarer is hand-painted by Aboriginal artists from the Gidarjil community and comes presented in a gift box.
Traditionally, bullroarers were used in ceremony as an instrument and for long-distance communication. Today, they are valued as cultural instruments that showcase the significance of Aboriginal knowledge and design.– an oval-shaped piece of timber with a slight twist, threaded with a long string at one end. When swung rapidly in a circular motion, the twist creates a low, resonant “singing” sound. This piece is signed by the artist on the front, with a plain timber finish on the back.
