Tjanpi Desert Weavers Raffia & Wool Tjilkamarta (Echidna) Sculpture by Justine Anderson (Green, Black, Yellow, Orange, Red)
$231.00
This handmade Tjilkamarta (echidna) sculpture by Aboriginal artist Justine Anderson is a vibrant example of traditional desert weaving from Central Australia. Created from native grasses (tjanpi), the form is skilfully shaped using natural materials, with black and yellow wool woven around the body to create bold striping. Bright orange raffia spikes run along its back to evoke echidna quills, complemented by raised red raffia eyes and light green raffia trim that adds playful contrast and detail.
Crafted with care and cultural knowledge, this unique piece highlights the strength of storytelling and creativity within Tjanpi Desert Weavers’ celebrated fibre art.
