Merinda Walters, an Indigenous artist and environmental scientist from FNQ, embodies her Kamilaroi heritage through vibrant acrylic paintings. Her art is a fusion of tradition and modernity, reflecting her deep connection to nature, culture, and conservation. Through Mindy’s Art Thawun Wandabaa, her business, she shares original artworks and earrings globally. Merinda’s passion extends to educating through her children’s book on invasive species, aiming to make a positive impact by intertwining art, science, and cultural storytelling. Raised in Karumba in the Gulf of Carpentaria, her art is a celebration of her roots, blending Aboriginal patterns with vivid hues to convey identity, emotions, and environmental advocacy.
